The AquaStride Equine Hydrotherapy pool is a multipurpose lap pool. AquaStride is used for injury prevention, performance conditioning, and rehabilitation of horses released from post operations, foundering, injected hocks, sore muscles, and assorted leg injuries. The pool is designed specifically with horses in mind. The water is chest deep so that the horse has 65% buoyancy and can create strong resistance based on the horses’ fitness level.
The water is 4’ 6” deep so that the horse does not hyperextend the neck or back, which occurs when horses are put in deep water. Horses are not designed to swim, but they are however designed to stretch and lift when given the opportunity to work. The depth of the water also gives injured, anxious, or fatigued horses a chance to stop and stand until they are ready to continue.
The staff of the AquaStride Equine Hydrotherapy is a specially trained and knowledgeable group that reads the horse and helps guide the horse down the specially designed and graded stair well. Between the expertise of the staff and the easy transitions throughout the pool’s design, the hydrotherapy session is made a peaceful and relaxing experience for your horse. Heart rates are closely monitored by staff throughout each session as well. The pool is designed to simulate everyday tasks like trailer loading.
